Inaprubahan na ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang rekomendasyon ng Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) na isailalim ang National Capital Region at apat pang kalapit na probinsya nito sa general community quarantine (GCQ) simula sa darating na Lunes, Marso 22, 2021, hanggang Linggo, Abril 4.
Ito ang inanunsyo ni Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque nitong Linggo, Marso 21, kaugnay sa pag-angat muli ng kaso ng Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) sa bansa.
Bukod sa Metro Manila, ang apat pang probinsyang kabilang sa listahan ng sasailalim sa GCQ ay ang Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, at Rizal, kung saan ipatutupad din ang karagdagan pang mga restriksyon sa mga ito upang mapigilan ang lalo pang paglobo ng bilang ng apektado ng virus.
Sa ilalim ng Resolution No. 104, itinatakda ng IATF-EID ang sumusunod na mga hakbang sa nasabing mga lugar:
Kaugnay pa rin sa layong makontrol ang paglobo ng mga kaso ng COVID-19 sa Kalakhang Maynila ay nagsimula nang ipatupad ng mga alkalde ng lugar noong Lunes, Marso 15, ang uniform curfew hours dito, mula alas-10 ng gabi hanggang alas-5 ng umaga. Tatagal naman ng hanggang dalawang linggo ang nasabing curfew.
Nitong lamang Sabado, Marso 20, ay naitala ang pinakamataas na kaso ng COVID-19 sa bansa na sumampa sa bilang na 7,999 katao.
