4 COVID-19 VACCINES NA BIBILHIN, INANUNSYO NA NG GOBYERNO

Inanunsyo nitong Martes, Disyembre 1 ni Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, Jr. na kukuha ang bansa ng bakuna para sa COVID-19 mula sa mga bansang China, Russia, Estados Unidos, at United Kingdom.

Mula umano sa ulat ni Vaccine Czar Carlito Galvez, Jr., nilinaw ni Sec. Roque na manggagaling ang mga bakuna sa Sinovac na gawa ng China; Pfizer mula sa US; AstraZeneca mula sa United Kingdom; at Sputnik V mula sa Russia.

Ayon kay Dr. Lulu Bravo, executive director ng Philippine Foundation for Vaccination, mayroon ng positive findings ang AstraZeneca at Pfizer, subalit aniya wala pang datos mula sa huling yugto ng clinical trial ng Sinovac at Sputnik V.

“Ang Phase 3 hindi pa nila ipinapakita. Hindi madaling desisyunan kung hindi mo nakikita ang full scientific data,” ani Dr. Bravo.

Sa press release na inilabas ng pharmaceutical companies, naiulat na 70 porsyentong epektibo ang AstraZeneca samantalang 95 poryentong epektibo naman ang bakunang gawa ng Pfizer.

Sa pamamagitan ng tripartite agreement ng gobyerno sa pribadong sektor, nakapaglaan na ng 2.6 milyong doses ng AstraZeneca vaccine. 

Samantala, isasagawa naman sa bansa ang Phase 3 clinical trials ng Sinovac at Sputnik V upang matukoy kung epektibo at ligtas itong gamitin ng publiko.

Layon ng COVID-19 task force na mabakunahan ang humigit-kumulang 60 milyong katao upang makamit ang herd immunity upang maging limitado ang virus transmission. Maaari rin umanong umabot sa tatlo hanggang limang taon bago matapos ang pagbabakuna sa 100 milyong tao sa bansa.
