LUNGSOD NG QUEZON Promoted na sa four-star general ang kasalukuyang Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff Gilbert I. Gapay sa seremonyang ginanap sa Department of National Defense, Oktubre 7.

Pinangunahan ni Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana ang naturang promotion.

“This achievement is a realization of not only the sacrifices which we have already made, but also of the obligations we have yet to fulfill for our country and its people. I am hopeful that the AFP will continue working collectively to provide a secure and peaceful environment for every Filipino,” pahayag ng heneral.

Bago naging 54th Chief of Staff ng AFP noong Agosto 3, si Gen. Gapay ang 61st Commanding General ng Philippine Army. Nagtapos din siya na valedictorian ng Philippine Military Academy Sinagtala Class of 1986.

Bilang pinuno ng Sandatahan, prayoridad ng AFP Chief ang operational effectiveness, organizational efficiency, personnel development at well-being, at stakeholders collaboration.
