BAGONG BATAS NA NAGBIBIGAY NG GRACE PERIOD SA PAGBABAYAD NG LOAN, KAILANGANG MAIPASA — PALASYO

Ayon sa Palasyo ngayong araw, Abril 11, dapat magpasa ng bagong batas na magbibigay ng grace period sa may mga utang at loan noong kasagsagan ng dalawang linggong ECQ sa NCR Plus. 

Binanggit ito ni Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque matapos sabihin ng Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) sa isang pahayag noong Marso 29 na ang mandatory grace period na ibinigay para sa mga nanghiram sa ilalim ng Bayanihan to Heal as One Act (Bayanihan 1) ay natapos na noong Hunyo 1 ng nakaraang taon. 

“Tama po ang BSP. Kinakailangan po natin ng bagong batas kung kinakailangan natin yung mga relyebo or assistance diyan sa mga pagkakautang. Batas po ang kailangan diyan,” saad niya sa isang virtual presser. 

In a statement last March 29, the BSP’s implementation of a 30-day grace period for the payment of loans under the law “ceased to apply effective 01 June 2020.”

Sa kabila nito, hinikayat ng BSP ang mga bangko na patuloy na magbigay ng relief measures sa mga kliyente ng mga ito sa pamamagitan ng pagrerenew o pag-eextend ng kanilang mga loan base sa assessment ng mga bangko. 

“The BSP has granted prudential relief measures to BSFIs to enable them to continue to provide financial services and support households and business amid the crisis,” dagdag nito. 

Inudyukan din ni BSP Governor Benjamin Diokno ang mga bangko na samantalahin ang mga time-bound tax exemptions at fee privileges sa ilalim ng RA 11523 o Financial Institutions Strategic Transfer (FIST) Act.
