Lumapag na sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 ang Qatar Airways Flight QR928 noong Linggo, Mayo 30, na naglalaman ng 50,000 karagdagang doses ng Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccine na Sputnik V mula Russia.

Sinalubong nina Vaccine Czar Carlito Galvez, Jr. at Russian Ambassador to the Philippines Marat Pavlov ang pagdating ng naturang bagong batch ng Sputnik V vaccines.

Inihatid naman sa PharmaServ cold storage sa Marikina City ang nasabing suplay ng mga bakuna.

Nauna nang sinabi ni Department of Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire na ang naturang karagdagang suplay ng bakuna mula Russia ay maaaring mapunta sa mga lugar na may malalaking populasyon at mataas na kaso ng COVID-19.

Sa kasalukuyan ay nasa 80,000 doses na ng naturang COVID-19 vaccine, na binuo ng Gamaleya Research Institute ng Russia, ang naihatid sa bansa. Nakatanggap ang bansa ng tig-dalawang batches ng 15,000 doses ng Sputnik V vaccines noong Mayo 1 at Mayo 12, na inihatid naman sa mga lungsod ng Makati, Muntinlupa, Manila, Taguig, at Parañaque.

Ayon kay Russian Ambassador Pavlov, ang pagdating ng Sputnik V vaccines sa bansa ay lalo pang magpapatibay sa samahan ng Russia at Pilipinas, lalo pa’t ipinagdiriwang pa lamang ng dalawang bansa noong nakaraang Mayo ang ika-45 na anibersaryo ng pagsisimula ng kanilang pakikipag-ugnayan.

“We are ready to deliver 20 million doses of Sputnik V according to the contracts that have been signed between the Russian Direct Investment Fund and the Government of the Philippines,” pahayag ni Pavlov.
