Pinagdiinan kamakailan ni Malolos City Mayor Gilbert “Bebong” Gatchalian na intensyon ng Bahay Kalinga na maging pansamantalang tuluyan at hindi detainment facility ng mga batang lansangan.

“Marami sa ating mga kabataan na ang kanilang mga naging tahanan ay ‘yung lansangan, marami sa kanila ang naligaw ng landas. Tapos ‘pag dinadala sila sa Bahay Kalinga, ang nagiging impression ng mga bata ay bakit sila kinukulong? Kasi to prevent ‘yung pagtakas ng mga bata, nilalagyan ng mga bakal ‘yung mga bintana,” pahayag ng alkalde.

Kaya naman naglaan ang pamahalaang panlungsod ng PhP4-milyon mula sa development fund nito noong 2020 para sa rehabilitasyon ng lumang Bahay Kalinga at pagtatayo ng bagong gusali.

Lalawakan din ang pasilidad para magkaroon ng palaruan at area kung saan maaaring makipag-usap ang mga bata sa professional counselors.

“We are trying to change ‘yung ganitong atmosphere sa Bahay Kalinga. Ang Bahay Kalinga ay hindi detainment facility. Ito ay isang lugar kung saan mararamdaman ng bata na mayroon siyang kinabukasan, mayroon siyang pagkakataon para mangarap para sa kanilang sarili at pamilya,” dagdag pa ng punong lungsod.

Target tapusin ng pamahalaang panlungsod sa loob ng 150 working days na nagsimula nitong Pebrero ngayong taon ang naturang proyekto.

Through this platform, Balita Central Digital aims to reach further the online community to deliver more accurate information and communication services in order to educate the citizenry regarding national issues which would enlighten them to be engaged and be empowered in contributing to building a better nation.
