Dumating na sa bansa nitong Linggo ng hapon ang unang batch ng 600,000 doses ng COVID-19 vaccine mula sa bansang China.
Lumapag ang Chinese military plane na nagdala ng mga bakuna sa Villamor airbase ng 4:00 p.m. at si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte mismo ang namuno sa mga opisyal na naroroon upang tanggapin at pasalamatan ang donasyong ito mula sa bansang China.
Mula sa Villamor Air Base, dinala ng anim na 40-foot trucks ang mga bakuna sa dalawang cold chain storage facility na matatagpuan sa Philippine General Hospital sa Maynila at sa Metropac Logistics sa Marikina.
Ayon kay Vaccine Czar Carlito Galvez, Jr. ang pagdating ng bakuna sa bansa ang nagsilbing hudyat ng simula ng vaccination program ng gobyerno.
“As we wrap up our preparations for the vaccine rollout, we call on our countrymen to take part in this massive and historic immunization program. As our President has said, no one is safe until everyone is safe,” ani Galvez.
Kaugnay nito, pangungunahan din ni Galvez ang isasagawang pagbabakuna sa Philippine General Hospital ngayong umaga gamit ang Sinovac vaccine.
Inaasahang dadalo rin sina Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, Food and Drug Administration Director General Eric Domingo, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority Chairman Benhur Abalos, at Manila City Mayor Francisco Domagoso.
Bukod pa rito, isasagawa rin ang pagbabakuna sa Lung Center of the Philippines, Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center and Sanitarium, Veterans Memorial Medical Center, Philippine National General Hospital, at sa V. Luna Medical Center.
