Sa isang press conference na ginanap noong Huwebes, Nobyembre 5, hinimok ng Department of Health (DOH) ang publiko na gawin na lamang digital ang pagdiriwang ng kapaskuhan upang isaalang-alang ang kaligtasan ng mga mamamayan sa gitna ng patuloy na banta ng Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Sa kaniyang online presentation, sinabi ni DOH-Health Promotion Policy and Technology Unit head Rodley Desmond Carza na mas maiging manood na lamang ng online na misa sa halip na personal na magtungo sa simbahan para sa Simbang Gabi upang maiwasan ang paglaganap ng virus.

Mas magiging ligtas din aniya kung gagawin lamang ang Noche Buena at Media Noche o ang pagsasalu-salo upang ipagdiwang ang Pasko at Bagong Taon sa pagitan ng mga pamilya at magkakaibigang naninirahan sa iisang tahanan, at gawin na lamang virtual ang pagtitipun-tipon para sa mga hindi naman magkakasama sa iisang bubong.

Dagdag pa ni Carza, mas mataas aniya ang posibilidad na mahawa sa virus ang mga indibidwal na magsasagawa ng malawakang pagtitipun-tipon at mga pagdiriwang na may kasamang kantahan, sayawan, o sigawan.

Kinokonsidera ring mapanganib ang pamimili sa matataong palengke, tiangge, Christmas bazaars, at shopping malls kaya’t inirerekomenda ng Kagawaran ang online shopping kung mamimili ng mga regalo.

Sa pinakahuling ulat ng DOH nitong Huwebes, umabot na sa 389,725 ang kabuuang kaso ng COVID-19 sa bansa. Nasa 7,409 na ang nasawi mula rito, samantalang 349,543 katao naman ang gumaling na mula sa nasabing sakit.
