COVID-19 TEST KIT NA PWEDENG GAMITIN SA BAHAY, PASADO NA SA AMERIKA; PINAS BUKAS SA PAGGAMIT NG NASABING KIT

Aprubado na ng Food and Drug Administration (FDA) ng Estados Unidos nitong Martes, Nobyembre 17, ang kauna-unahang COVID-19 test kit na may kakayahang suriin kung positibo o negatibo sa virus ang isang indibidwal sa loob lamang ng kaniyang tahanan. 

Ang test kit na ito ay gumagamit ng tinatawag na loop-mediated isothermal amplification reaction o LAMP, isang pamamaraan ng pagsusuri kung saan kinokopya nito ang genetic material ng virus hanggang sa maabot nito ang antas na maaari nang matukoy ang virus, kahit pa mababa lamang ang bilang nito na nasa respiratory tract ng tao.

Ayon sa kumpanyang Lucira Health na nakabase sa California at siyang bumuo ng nasabing test kit, maaari itong gamitin ng mga indibidwal na nasa 14 na taong gulang pataas basta’t may prescription ng health care provider. 

Ang indibidwal na magsasagawa ng test na ito ay nararapat na mag-swab sa magkabilang ilong nito, at pagkatapos ay ilubog at ihalo ang na-swab na bahagi sa isang maliit na bote na naglalaman ng kemikal. Ikakabit naman ang nasabing bote sa isang test cartridge na siyang magpoproseso ng sample. Sa loob lamang ng 30 minuto ay iilaw na ang cartridge at agad na malalaman ang resulta ng pagsusuri.

Nasa 50 dolyar ang halaga ng at-home test kit na ito.

Ayon naman kay Philippine FDA Director General Eric Domingo, bukas sila sa ganitong test kit basta’t dadaan sa tamang proseso sa Pilipinas.

“Nabigyan na ito ng EUA (Emergency Use Authorization) sa US (United States) FDA, so kapag naman sila ay nagregister dito sa atin madali naman po ‘yon at madali naman po silang ma-approve dito sa atin,” pahayag ni Dir. Gen. Domingo.
