Naghahanda na ang gobyerno para sa malawakang COVID-19 immunization activity na maaaring maganap sa unang bahagi ng 2021.

Ito ang ipinahayag ni National Task Force Against COVID-19 Chief Implementer at bagong talagang Vaccine Czar Sec. Carlito Galvez, Jr. sa naganap na presentasyon ng Philippine National Vaccine Roadmap.

“This is really our road to normalcy and recovery,” pahayag ni Galvez. 

Dalawang beses aniya isasagawa ang bakuna na may agwat na 21 araw bago ibigay ang ikalawang dose.

Nakatakdang ipresenta ng task force ang roadmap na ito kay Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte bukas upang maaprubahan.

Ayon kay Galvez, natukoy na anila ang major stages upang maayos na maipatupad ang vaccine program, gayundin ang mga dapat isaalang-alang sa pagpili ng vaccine tulad ng safety, sensitivity, at efficacy sapagkat aniya, ilan sa vaccines ay kailangan ng cold chain refrigeration.

“We also consider cost and the supply chain requirements because the handling of the vaccines is sensitive… then we have access to clinical trials and local and regional production and distribution,” paliwanag ni Galvez.

Dagdag pa niya, “Last, (we also consider the) complexity of implementation. If we will have two doses… we will do it twice. The conduct of nationwide vaccination is like having national elections. After 21 days, it seems like we will have a re-election.”

Kailangan din aniyang suriin at pag-aralang mabuti kung saan kukuha ng vaccine. Bagama’t nagpakita ng inklinasyon si Pangulong Duterte sa bakunang gawa ng China at Russia, ayon kay Galvez, may ibang bansa ring nag-alok ng kanilang bakuna sa Pilipinas tulad ng United Kingdom, Singapore, at India.

Kasalukuyang nakikipag-ugnayan si Galvez sa mga eksperto mula sa UP National Institute of Health gayundin sa mga miyembro ng World Health Organization at Asian Development Bank para sa preparasyon at distribusyon ng mga bakuna.

Inaasahang magsisimula ang procurement ng mga bakuna sa darating na Enero at susundan agad ito ng production, shipment, at storage. Maaaring sa Marso pa umano magsimula ang distribusyon at pagsasagawa ng bakuna.
