Ipinag-utos ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte nitong Lunes na ipagpaliban muna ang nakatakdang dagdag singil sa PhilHealth contribution rate ng mga miyembro nito ngayong taon.

Inatasan ni Pangulong Duterte si PhilHealth Chief Dante Gierran na suspendihin muna ang mangyayaring monthly premium hike sa kabila ng nararanasang pandemya ng bansa.

“Huwag muna ngayon. No increase in contributions. I will look for the money to fill it up,” pahayag ni Pangulong Duterte.

Nakapaloob sa Universal Health Care Act na magtaas ng 3.5 porsyento mula sa tatlong porsyento ang buwanang singil sa PhilHealth epektibo ngayong Enero 2021.

Ayon kay Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go, kailangan pa umanong gumawa ng mga mambabatas ng batas upang maging epektibo ang pagpapaliban ng itinakdang rate hike. Dagdag pa niya, payag din umano si Pangulong Duterte na aprubahan ang dagdag pondo para sa PhilHealth.

“Kung may kailangang aprubahan na dagdag na pondo mula gobyerno para hindi maantala ang serbisyo ng PhilHealth, pipirmahan niya ito pagkatapos mapag-aralan ng mabuti,” saad ni Sen. Go.

Inaasahang aabot sa P90 bilyon ang makokolekta ng PhilHealth sa bagong rate adjustment na ipatutupad kumpara sa P77 bilyon noong nakaraang taon.

Ayon sa PhilHealth, ilalaan ang makukuhang dagdag na singil sa pondo para sa karagdagang medical benefits at subsidies gayundin sa iba’t-ibang programa na nakapaloob sa Universal Health Care Law.
