Sinabi kamakailan ni DILG Officer-in-Charge at Undersecretary Bernardo C. Florece, Jr. sa pulong kasama ang ilang UP officials na parehong sang-ayon ang dalawang ahensya na kailangang bisitahin muli ang 28 taon nang 1992 UP-DILG agreement.

Gagawin ang masinsinang pagsusuri para mas lalong mapaigi ang kapayapaan at seguridad sa loob ng UP campuses habang tinataguyod ang academic freedom at right to free speech and assembly.

“Our meeting with UP officials led by President Danilo L. Concepcion and UP Diliman Chancellor Fidel Nemenzo is a good start since both sides agree that both our agencies only have the best interests of the UP community in mind. Kami po sa DILG ay lubhang nagagalak sa development na ito,” pahayag ni Usec. Florece. Dagdag pa niya, “Ang DILG po ay kakampi ng UP at ng lahat ng unibersidad sa pagpapanatili ng kapayapaan at kaayusan sa loob ng kanilang mga paaralan.”

Sinabi ng DILG na isang technical working group ang maaaring buuin upang pag-aralan kung aamyendahan lang o papalitan ng bago ang naturang kasunduan.

Nagpahayag naman ng suporta si UP Pres. Concepcion sa hakbangin na ito ng DILG.

“Maraming salamat sa DILG at PNP at asahan ninyo ang aming pakikipagtulungan para lahat po ng issues ay ating malapatan ng lunas,” pahayag ng UP President.

Dinaluhan din ang pagpupulong noong Pebrero 5 sa Camp Crame, Quezon City nina Usec. Jonathan Malaya, Asec. Manny Felix, PLtGen Joselito Veracruz, QCPD Director PBGen Danilo Macerin, UP VP Elena Pernia, UPD Vice Chancellor Aleli Bawagan, at Director John S. Baroña.
