DND tatapusin na rin ang kasunduan sa ibang eskwelahan bukod sa UP — Lorenzana

Sinabi ni Department of National Defense (DND) Delfin Lorenzana na tinitingnan ng ahenisya ngayon ang posibilidad na wakasan na rin ang mga kasunduan nila sa ibang eskwelahan na nagbabawal sa pagpasok ng kapulisan at military sa loob ng mga campus katulad ng pagtatapos ng parehong kasunduan sa University of the Philippines (UP).

“We are looking into other similar agreements to terminate them as well,” sagot ni Lorenzana nang tanungin kung may kasunduan din ang DND sa iba pang eskwelahan na napasok at napamugaran na ng mga miyembro ng Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA).

Binigyang diin din niyang may kakayahan ang ahensiyang tapusin ang 31 taong kasunduan nito sa UP nang walang konsultasyon sa mga opisyal nito.

Ang DND-UP agreement na pinirmahan noong June 30, 1989 ay nagbabawal sa military at kapulisang pumasok sa lahat ng campus ng UP nang walang paunang pasabi sa administrasyon nito.

“Of course. Ayaw na namin. We have determined that it doesn’t serve the interest of the students,” saad niya.

Nagdesisyon ang ahensiya na tapusin na ang kasunduan epektibo mula noong January 15, 2021. Ayon kay Lorenzana, ang nasabing kasunduan ay “obsolete” na.

Ang kasunduan ay ginamit diumano ng CPP-NPA upang makapag-recruit ng mga miyembro sa loob ng UP.
