DOH: MANATILI SA LOOB NG BAHAY SA PAGGUNITA NG SEMANA SANTA

Matapos maitala ang record breaking na 7,999 kaso ng COVID-19 nitong nakaraang linggo, nanawagan ang Department of Health (DOH) sa publiko na manatili na lamang sa kani-kanilang mga tahanan sa darating na Semana Santa at manood na lamang ng misa online sa halip na dumagsa sa mga simbahan.

“With the continued rise in the number of cases being observed in the country, along with the threat of increased transmission posed by the expected higher mobility over the upcoming Holy Week, the DOH strongly urges the public to stay at home and instead opt for online masses,” pakiusap ng DOH sa publiko.

Bukod pa rito, nakiusap din ang DOH sa publiko na kanselahin muna ang non-essential travel, at huwag kaligtaang sumunod sa minimum health standards tulad ng pagsusuot ng mask sa pampublikong lugar maging sa loob ng bahay kung kinakailangan upang mapigilan ang pagkalat ng virus.

Samantala, hinikayat naman ng Department of Tourism (DOT) ang publiko na tangkilikin ang “smart tourism” at magpunta na lamang sa malalapit na destinasyon upang suportahan ang lokal na turismo ng bansa.

Ayon kay DOT Undersecretary Benito Bengzon, Jr., mas pinadali na umano ang travel protocols upang makatulong sa ekonomiya subalit aniya prayoridad pa rin ang kaligtasan ng mga turista.

Sa inilabas na panuntunan ng DOT nitong Pebrero, inalis na ang mandatory COVID-19 testing at quarantine sa mga lokal na turista maliban na lamang kung nagpapakita ang mga ito ng isa sa mga sintomas ng naturang virus.
