DOH NAKATAKDANG MAGTAYO NG COLD STORAGE FACILITIES PARA SA COVID-19 VACCINE

Sa isang press briefing, sinabi ni Department of Health (DOH) Undersecretary at Spokesperson Maria Rosario Vergeire na nakikipag-ugnayan na ang DOH sa ilang stakeholders upang mas maparami pa ang bilang ng cold storage facilities sa bansa na paglalagyan ng magiging suplay ng bakuna laban sa Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Ayon kay Health Undersecretary Vergeire, hindi aniya sapat ang kasalukuyang bilang ng nasabing pasilidad sa bansa para sa nasabing hakbang.

Base sa World Health Organization, ang cold storage ay isang sistema ng pag-iimbak at pagdadala ng mga bakuna mula sa paggawa hanggang sa pagtuturok nito alinsunod sa rekomendadong temperatura para rito upang mapanatili ang bisa ng bakuna.

“Ideally for cold storage, we want to have hubs or storage facilities in every region. If possible, every region so that when we roll out our vaccination, we can maintain the effectiveness of the vaccines,” saad ng tagapagsalita ng DOH. 

Sa ngayon ay hindi pa matukoy kung ilan ang bilang ng kakailanganing cold storage facilities sapagkat ayon kay Vergeire, dedepende ito sa mga bakunang maaaring mabili sa merkado. Magkakaiba rin aniya ang kinakailangang cold storage ng mga bakuna.

“There are vaccines that need ultra low [temperature] while others need negative 70 degrees. For some usual vaccines, 48 degrees is okay already. So we have to see the vaccines that will be available,” paliwanag ni Usec. Vergeire.

Nauna nang inanunsyo ng gobyerno na nasa 20 porsyento ng populasyon ng bansa o 109.5 milyong katao ang nakatakdang maisama sa mga unang mabibigyan ng bakuna laban sa virus.
