DOLE MAMIMIGAY NG LIBRENG BISIKLETA SA MGA MANGGAGAWANG APEKTADO ANG KABUHAYAN NG COVID-19

Nasa 900 na bisikleta ang nakatakdang ipamahagi ng Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) sa mga manggagawang lubhang apektado ang kabuhayan dala ng Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) at nais na magtrabaho sa delivery services sector. 

“Dahil nagkaroon nga po ng bicycle boom bunsod ng COVID-19, naisip din po ni [DOLE] Sec. [Silvestre] Bello na bigyan ‘yong ating displaced workers, particularly ‘yong nasa informal sector na mga naapektuhan o nawalan ng kabuhayan, magbibigay po ng bisikleta,” pahayag ni Atty. Ma. Karina Trayvilla, director ng Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns ng DOLE. 

Para maisakatuparan ang proyektong ito ay nakipag-ugnayan ang ahensya sa mga pribadong kumpanya tulad ng Grab at Lalamove.

Ang mga nais makakuha na nasabing ayuda ay maaaring magtungo sa pinakamalapit na DOLE field office para sa profiling, kung saan bibigyan sila ng training tungkol sa traffic regulation, productivity at financial literacy, at maging hinggil sa kaligtasan at kalusugan.

Ayon pa kay Dir. Trayvilla, sisimulan na sa darating na Lunes, Oktubre 26, ang pamimigay ng 900 na libreng mga bisikleta sa Mandaluyong, Muntinlupa, Pasig, Manila, at iba pang mga rehiyon sa bansa.

“By next month and December, magsasagawa ng pamimigay sa Cebu at ng iba pang regional office,” pagpapatuloy ni Dir. Trayvilla.

Dagdag pa ni Trayvilla, ang nasabing inisyatiba ay nagmula sa resulta ng survey na isinagawa ng DOLE noong Setyembre, kung saan 78 porsiyento mula sa 1,119 katao na kasali sa survey ang nagsabing mas pinipili nilang magbisikleta papunta sa kanilang trabaho sa kabila ng pagkakaroon ng iba pang uri ng transportasyon.
