Nanawagan ang gobyerno sa publiko na makiisa sa clinical trials na kasalukuyang isinasagawa sa bansa upang aniya’y makatulong sa paggawa ng epektibong bakuna.

Nagsimula na umanong isagawa sa bansa ang clinical trial ng single-shot vaccine ng Janssen Pharmaceuticals na nakabase sa Belgium at pag-aari ng Johnson & Johnson.

Samantala, inaasahang isasagawa rin ang clinical trial ng Sinovac Biotech at Clover Biopharmaceutical, parehong Chinese pharmaceutical company, na nasa huling yugto na ng preparasyon para sa kanilang clinical trial.

“We encourage our countrymen to join clinical trials if your barangay is chosen as one of the sites of the clinical trial, because we need to find a vaccine that is effective and safe and efficacious,” ani Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Undersecretary Rowena Guevara.

Kasalukuyang nasa recruiting at screening stage ang Janssen Pharmaceuticals para sa mga lalahok sa kanilang clinical trial.

Ang mga papasa umano sa screening ay bibigyan ng bakuna at imo-monitor ang  kondisyon.

Nilinaw rin ni Usec. Guevara na sasagutin umano ng vaccine developers ang pagpapagamot sa mga pasyenteng magkakaroon ng anumang side effects sa isasagawang clinical trials.

Gayundin umano ang kaso sa solidarity trial na isasagawa ng World Health Organization kung saan may nakalaang global insurance para sa volunteers nito.

Ayon sa DOST, nakatakdang magsagawa ng clinical trial ang Janssen Pharmaceuticals sa San Pablo at Cabuyao, Laguna; La Paz, Iloilo; at Metro Manila.
