Sa ilalim ng Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Circular No. 20-59, hinihikayat ang franchisors ng micro, small, at medium enterprise gyms o fitness centers at maging sports facility franchisees na huwag nang singilin ang royalty fee at iba pang maaaring dagdag na multa na sana ay ipapataw nila noong mga panahong hindi pa pinahihintulutan na sila’y magbalik-operasyon dahil sa banta ng COVID-19.

Ayon pa sa naturang memorandum, ang nasabing mga pasilidad ay hinihimok ding hindi na pagbayarin ng membership fees at iba pang maaaring dagdag na singil o multa ang mga miyembro nito, at o palawigin ang bisa ng membership ng kanilang mga parukyano alinsunod sa panahong hindi pa sila pinapayagang magbukas bunsod ng paglaganap ng virus.

Pahayag ng DTI, ang nasabing mga miyembro ay hindi nararapat na pagkaitan ng karapatang makagamit ng mga pasilidad ng gym dahil lamang sa huling pagbabayad o hindi pagbabayad ng miyembro habang sarado pa ang gym sanhi ng pandemya.

Ang gyms at fitness centers ay ilan sa mga negosyong pansamantalang itinigil ang operasyon noong idineklara ang enhanced community quarantine sa bansa.

Gayunpaman, simula noong Agosto 1 ay pinahintulutan nang magbukas muli ang gyms, fitness centers, at sports facilities nang hanggang 30 porsiyento ng kabuuan ng kanilang kapasidad sa mga lugar na nasa ilalim ng general community quarantine (GCQ), samantalang maaari namang tumanggap ng hanggang 50 porsiyento ng kabuuan ng kanilang kapasidad ang mga pasilidad na nasa lugar na naka-modified GCQ.
