GALVEZ IMINUNGKAHING BABAAN ANG TARGET PARA MAKAMIT ANG HERD IMMUNITY; PRIORITIZATION OF AREAS MAS KAILANGAN UMANONG TUTUKAN

Iminungkahi ni Vaccine Czar Carlito Galvez, Jr. kay Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na babaan ang bilang ng target na kailangang mabakunahan sa inoculation program ng pamahalaan upang makamit ang herd immunity bago matapos ang 2021.

Ayon kay Sec. Galvez, kailangan umanong ituon ng gobyerno ang atensyon nito sa pagbabakuna sa 50 milyong Pilipino mula sa mga lugar na mayroong  “economic and social importance” sa halip na bakunahan ang buong populasyon ng bansa.

“Instead na mag-concentrate tayo sa 110 million population, we have to concentrate sa 83 million population. Kung makuha natin ang 70 percent or herd immunity ng areas na ito, malaki ang chances na mare-recover natin ang economy at malaki ang chances na ma-prevent ang surge sa traditional areas na very vulnerable,” paliwanag ni Sec. Galvez kay Pangulong Duterte.

Dagdag pa niya, kailangan umanong ipatupad ang “prioritization of areas” dahil hindi umano imposibleng magkaroon ng kakulangan ng suplay sa bakuna dahil sa biglang pagtaas ng kaso ng COVID-19 sa India na isa sa mga nangungunang COVID-19 vaccine manufacturer.

“Considering na magkakaroon ng fall-off or shortfall sa ating supply, we are recommending na magkaroon ng prioritization. Titingnan natin ang areas na mayroong economic at social importance at magkakaroon ng malaking problema kapag hindi naagapan,” pahayag ni Galvez.

Sa Luzon, kabilang sa listahan ang National Capital Region, CALABARZON, Central Luzon, Baguio City, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, at iba pang rehiyon na may mataas na kaso.

Sa Visayas naman, kabilang sa prioritization areas ang Metro Cebu City, Bacolod City, Iloilo City, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, at iba pang rehiyon na may mataas na kaso.

Sa Mindanao, kabilang ang Davao City, Cagayan de Oro City, Zamboanga City, General Santos City, Iligan City, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, at Davao Region.

Samantala, inilahad din ni Sec. Galvez na malaki ang posibilidad na maantala ang pagdating ng Novavax vaccines mula sa bansang India dahil na sa kinakaharap nitong pagsubok bunsod ng COVID-19.

“Sa third quarter, darating na po ang ibang deliveries pero yung Novavax, ang nakikita po natin dahil may nangyayari sa India, baka mabawasan o ma-delay po siya sa September dahil kailangang-kailangan po ng India ang supply ng vaccines,” ani Galvez.
