Nanawagan si Vaccine Czar Carlito Galvez, Jr. sa publiko na huwag maging brand-conscious pagdating sa COVID-19 vaccines sapagkat aniya lahat umano ito ay epektibo laban sa virus.

“‘Yun po ang inaano natin sa ating mga kababayan, dapat hindi po tayo maging conscious sa mga brand. Kasi lahat po ng mga vaccine, may kani-kaniya pong efficacy yan,” pahayag ni Galvez.

Dagdag pa niya, “Ang importante lang po talaga ‘yung sinasabi ng mga doctor, ‘yung sinabi ni Dr. Edsel Salvaña, ang pinakaimportante, ‘yung hindi po tayo ma-hospital at hindi po tayo magkaroon ng severe cases.”

Ayon kay Galvez, mataas ang demand ng AstraZeneca, Pfizer, at Moderna sa ibang bansa kung kaya’t karamihan sa developing countries at bansang kabilang sa Southeast Asia ay gumagamit ng bakunang gawa ng Sinovac at Sputnik V.

“Yung tatlong major brand, AstraZeneca, Pfizer at saka Moderna, talagang pinag-aagawan ‘yan ng western countries, 75 percent ng ating global inoculation right now is being done by only 10 countries. Karamihan po ng Southeast Asian at saka developing countries, ay ang ginagamit ang Sinovac at saka yung Sputnik.

Kamakailan, iniulat ni Galvez na tinanggihan ng ilang Western vaccine manufacturers ang alok ng Pilipinas na dagdagan ang bayad nito kapalit ng mas maagang pagdating ng mga bakuna sa bansa.

Inaasahang sa buwan ng Mayo pa mababakunahan ang publiko gamit ang Pfizer at AstraZeneca vaccine mula sa COVAX facility.
