Magiging maingat umano ang bansa sa pagpili ng bakunang ibibigay sa senior citizens matapos lumabas ang balitang nasawi ang 23 senior citizens sa bansang Norway matapos mabakunahan ng Pfizer vaccine.

Ayon kay Vaccine Czar Carlito Galvez, Jr., sisiguraduhin umano ng gobyerno na hindi mauulit ang naturang insidente sa panahong magsimula na ang vaccination program sa bansa.

“Ang ating goal is zero casualty and as much as possible, very close watch,” pahayag ni Sec. Galvez.

Dagdag pa niya, “Ang task group na ginawa namin dito ay isang task group ng mga vaccine expert para talagang alalayan. Susuriin talaga natin ‘yung mga history, titingnan natin.” 

Kinumpirma ng Norwegian Medicines agency na may kinalaman ang COVID-19 vaccine sa pagkamatay ng 23 katao at 13 sa mga ito ang naobserbahan na.

Ayon sa ulat, “Common adverse reactions may have contributed to a severe course in elderly people who are frail.” 

Matapos umanong marinig ang balita, agad nakipag-ugnayan si Sec. Galvez kay Health Secretary Francisco Duque III upang pag-usapan ang planong pagbabakuna sa mga senior citizen sa bansa.

“Sinabi namin na mas maganda ‘yung original plan namin na 18 hanggang 59 [years old] lang muna at hahanap tayo ng bakuna na pang-matanda talaga,” ani Sec. Galvez.

Ayon pa sa kanya, “Based sa initial report ng Norway, talagang delikado ‘yung 80 and above. So ‘yun ang talagang titingnan natin lalo na ‘yung talagang may komplikasyon at talagang nakikita natin ‘yung mga frail. Kasi titingnan natin din ‘yung risk and benefit ng bakuna natin.”
