IATF: MGA BUMIBIYAHE PAPASOK NG BANSA NA NABAKUNAHAN NA NG COVID-19 VACCINES HINDI PA RIN LIGTAS SA TESTING AT QUARANTINE PROTOCOLS

“Any individual arriving in the Philippines who may have received vaccination for COVID-19 [Coronavirus disease 2019] in other countries or jurisdictions shall still be required to observe the mandatory testing and quarantine protocols.”

Ito ang ipinahayag ni Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque nitong Miyerkules, Enero 6, 2020, alinsunod sa napagkasunduan ng Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases sa gitna ng patuloy na isinagawang pagbabakuna laban sa COVID-19 sa ilang mga bansa.

Sa kasalukuyan ay wala pang ibinibigay na emergency use approval sa experimental COVID-19 vaccines sa bansa. 

Ang American drugmaker na Pfizer pa lamang ang vaccine company na nagsumite ng kanilang aplikasyon sa bansa para sa emergency use authorization ng kanilang binuong bakuna laban sa virus.

Ayon kay Food and Drug Administration director general Eric Domingo, inaasahang magsusumite rin ng kanilang aplikasyon ang United Kingdom-based na kumpanyang AstraZeneca sa mga darating na araw.

Inilabas na rin ng World Health Organization (WHO) ang kauna-unahan nitong emergency use approval para sa isang COVID-19 vaccine. Ang nasabing pahintulot ay ibinigay sa bakunang binuo ng Pfizer/BioNTech, na naiulat na nasa 95 porsiyento umano ang effectivity sa indibidwal kapag naturukan ito ng dalawang doses. Ang nasabing hakbang ng WHO ay naglalayong matulungan ang mga bansang walang COVID-19 vaccine regulatory processes na makakuha pa rin ng bakuna. 

Nabigyan na rin ng emergency use approval ang ilang mga potensyal na COVID-19 vaccines sa mga bansang tulad ng Estados Unidos at United Kingdom. Sa China naman kauna-unahang ipinagkaloob ang COVID-19 vaccine general use approval para sa bakunang binuo ng Sinopharm.

Sa Pilipinas naman, mayroon nang P72 bilyong nakalaan sa 2021 national budget upang masiguro ang suplay at distribusyon ng darating na mga potensyal na bakuna sa bansa. Kasalukuyan nang isinasagawa ang mga negosasyon upang matiyak ang suplay nito.
