Ikinatuwa ng Palasyo ang inisyatiba ng ilang lokal na pamahalaan na pondohan ang bakuna ng mga nasasakupan nito kontra COVID-19.

“Let’s just say we welcome the contribution of the LGUs kasi ibig sabihin, mas marami tayong budget para bumili ng vaccine at hindi lang iyong manggagaling sa pondo ng national government,” pahayag ni Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque.

Aniya, government to government pa rin ang mangyayaring transaksyon sa pagbili ng COVID-19 vaccines at lahat umano ito ay dadaan kay Vaccine Czar Carlito Galvez, Jr.

Kaugnay nito, hinimok ng Department of Health (DOH) ang mga lokal na pamahalaan na makipag-ugnayan sa gobyerno upang masiguro ang maayos na maisagawa ang itinakdang immunization campaign.

Ayon kay DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire, mahalaga umano ang koordinasyon sa pagitan ng DOH at ng mga lokal na pamahalaan upang maayos na maipamahagi ang mga bakuna at nang masuri ang epekto ng bakuna sa publiko.

“We have to remember, the national immunization program rests on the mandate of the Department of Health, so hopefully, the local governments will work with us… Try to work with us so that we can have more effective vaccine deployment implementation,” saad ni Usec. Vergeire.

Siniguro rin ni Usec. Vergeire na kasama sa prayoridad na mabakunahan ang mga lokal na pamahalaan na kinakitaan ng mataas na kaso ng COVID-19.

Kabilang sa mga lokal na pamahalaan na naglaan ng pondo para sa bakuna ang mga lungsod ng Maynila, Pasig, Navotas, at Valenzuela.
