Nabahala ang mga miyembro ng The League of Provinces of the Philippines matapos umapela si Department of Labor and Employment Secretary Silvestre Bello III na iklian ang itinakdang araw ng quarantine para sa displaced overseas Filipino workers upang agad na makauwi sa kani-kanilang mga probinsya.

Ayon kay LPP President Marinduque Governor Presbitero Velasco, Jr., hindi umano lahat ng lokal na pamahalaan ay may sapat na pondo upang maisagawa ang natitirang araw ng quarantine sa kani-kanilang lokal na pasilidad.

“Meron po kaming agam-agam po diyan dahil, isa po, alam niyo naman po ‘yung pondo po, para ho kami ang magbabayad ng kanilang pagkain at tirahan,” pahayag ni Gov. Velasco.

Sa panukala ni Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III, isasagawa ng mga OFWs ang kanilang 14-day quarantine period sa kanilang mga probinsya kung mag-negatibo ang mga ito sa COVID-19.

Ayon pa kay Velasco, nakasalalay umano ang tutuluyan ng OFWs sa kapasidad ng hotels at iba pang lodging establishments sa lugar.

Kailangan rin umanong isaalang-alang ang manpower ng mga lokal na pamahalaan na tutulong at magmo-monitor sa kalagayan ng OFWs.

Paliwanag naman ni Sec. Bello, paubos na umano ang pondo ng kanyang departamento kung kaya’t naghahanap sila ng alternatibong paraan upang mapaikli ang quarantine period ng OFWs.

Kaugnay nito, inamin din ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na hindi pa umano siya handang payagan na luwagan ang quarantine at testing protocols para sa displaced OFWs.
