Mismong si PNP Chief Police General Debold M. Sinas ang nanguna sa oath of allegiance ng mga nasa 36 communist red fighters na sumuko sa mga pulis sa Police Regional Office-8 nitong Pebrero 6.

Kasamang sinuko ng mga rebeldeng komunista mula sa iba’t ibang guerilla fronts sa Eastern Visayas ang nasa 29 assorted high-powered firearms, ammunition, at IED components.

Kinumpirma naman ng isang female rebel-returnee ang pagkakaroon ng out-of-school youth recruits sa CPP-NPA sa Samar-Leyte area. Sa kanyang testimonya, tumigil siya sa pag-aaral matapos sumali sa League of Filipino Students at Gabriela, hanggang sa tuluyang naging kasapi na siya ng NPA.

Ginarantiya naman ni PNP Chief Sinas na tutulungan ang nagbabalik-loob na female rebel para makapiling muli nito ang kanyang pamilya at makapagsimula ng bagong buhay. Ganoon din ang tulong sa ilalim ng Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program para sa lahat ng mga nais na sumukong rebelde.

“The continued surrender of these red fighters that has reached thousands now is a clear indicator of the trust and confidence in the government felt deeply by these NPA members who have openly narrated the deception and miserable experiences they suffered in the hands of their commanders,” pahayag ng hepe ng PNP.
