Makati City napiling pilot site para sa COVID-19 pooled testing

Pormal nang nilagdaan noong Agosto 5 nina Makati City Mayor Abigail Binay kasama ang grupo sa likod ng Project ARK ang memorandum of agreement upang maging pilot testing site ang lungsod at maisagawa ang pooled testing kontra COVID-19.

Sa isang virtual meeting, inihayag ni Presidential Adviser for Entrepreneurship Joey Concepcion na sampung libong residente ng Makati na kinabibilangan ng mga market vendors, drayber ng mga pampublikong sasakyan, at mga residenteng naninirahan malapit sa Makati Coliseum ang magiging prayoridad sa proyektong ito na sisimulan sa Agosto 15.

Sa pamamagitan ng pooled testing, paghahatian ng isang grupo ang isang RT-PCR kit kumpara sa nakagawiang sistema na “one RT-PCR kit per person”. Kapag lumabas na positibo ang resulta, saka lamang isasailalim sa individual assessment ang grupo.

Ayon kay Concepcion, ang estratehiyang ito ay isang “game changer” at aniya, “it could speed up testing, increase the capacity, and make it cheaper. Testing will create greater visibility.” 

Ang datos na makukuha sa test na isasagawa ay siya namang gagamitin ng lokal na pamahalaan bilang gabay sa kanilang COVID-19 response policy-making.

Ikinatuwa naman ito ng alkalde ng Makati at sinabing isang karangalan na mapili ang Lungsod ng Makati bilang pilot site. Dagdag pa niya, indikasyon umano ito ng tiwala ng grupo sa COVID-19 policies at protocols ng lungsod.

“Hopefully, the pooled testing would be the answer for us to put a social end to the pandemic,” pahayag ni Mayor Binay.

Plano ring isailalim sa pooled testing ang iba pang lungsod sa Metro Manila at target ng Project ARK na maisagawa ang pooled testing sa 160,000 pang katao.

Kabilang din sa mga nakiisa sa virtual signing ng memorandum of agreement sina Project Ark Chief Implementor at Iloilo Representative Janette Garin, BDO Unibank Chairman Tessie Sy-Coson, at sina Dr. Julius Lecciones at Dr. Raymond Lo ng Philippine Children’s Medical Center.
