Balak ng pamahalaan na palawigin ang rutang maaabot ng Pasig River Ferry Service (PRFS) hanggang sa Marikina River upang mabigyan ng alternatibo at mas mabilis na uri ng transportasyon ang mga bumibiyahe sa eastern side ng Metro Manila.

Sa pakikipagpulong nito kay Marikina Mayor Marcelino Teodoro nitong Huwebes, Enero 21, 2021, sinabi ni Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos, Jr. na kinokonsidera ng kaniyang ahensya ang pagtatayo ng ferry terminal sa Marikina River.

“Iyong tinatawag naming ferry boat ng MMDA kasi ay libre sa ngayon. Baka pwede na ho dito sa Marikina para sa mga taga-Marikina, Rizal, San Mateo, magpe-ferry papuntang Maynila; hindi na kayo makikipagbunuan sa traffic,” pahayag ng tagapangulo ng MMDA. 

Sa kasalukuyan ay libreng nagpapasakay ang PRFS sa lahat ng mga pasahero. Mayroon itong 11 na istasyon: ang Pinagbuhatan, San Joaquin, at Maybunga stations sa Pasig City, ang Guadalupe at Valenzuela na mga istasyon sa Makati City, Hulo sa Mandaluyong City, at ang Lambingan, Sta. Ana, PUP, Lawton, at Escolta naman sa siyudad ng Maynila.
