MMDA: ‘SIDEWALK VENDORS, BAWAL PA RIN NGAYONG KAPASKUHAN’

Muling iginiit ng Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) na ipinagbabawal pa rin ang mga sidewalk vendor ngayong panahon ng Kapaskuhan.

Ito ay kaugnay sa memorandum circular na inilabas ng Department of the Interior and Local Government noong Nobyembre 16 na nag-uutos na ipagpatuloy ang naudlot na road clearing operations bunsod ng pagdedeklara ng lockdown.

“Hindi po kami nagkulang sa abiso. Pagdating ng oras ng clearing sa 16 dapat wala na kayo diyan. Mayroon po na kapag may nakakita sa ‘min talagang umaalis na sila,” saad ni MMDA Metro Parkway Clearing Group head Francis Martinez.

Sa kabilang banda, upang patuloy pa ring makapaghanap-buhay ang mga apektadong vendor sa gitna ng isinasagawang clearing operations, inatasan ng MMDA ang mga lokal na pamahalaan na maglaan ng lugar para sa mga ito.

Ginagawa na ito sa ilang lugar, tulad ng Pasay na may night market para sa mga sidewalk vendor sa kanilang nasasakupan.

Nakikipagtulungan na rin ang MMDA sa mga lokal na pamahalaan para matukoy ang mga lugar na para sa mga vendor at mga paradahan upang hindi na galawin ang mga ito ng MMDA clearing team.
