MOTORCYCLE TAXI PILOT STUDY NG ANGKAS AT JOYRIDE, SINUPORTAHAN NG LOKAL NA PAMAHALAAN NG METRO MANILA

Ikinagalak ng dalawang motorcycle taxi firms na Angkas at JoyRide ang ginawang rekomendasyon ng Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases na ipagpatuloy ang pilot study ng mga ito matapos makatanggap ng suporta mula sa mga lokal na pamahalaan ng Metro Manila.

Pinaghahandaan na nila ang pagbabalik nila sa lansangan at inaasahan nilang magiging positibo ang tugon ng kumite sa kanilang petisyon. “Handa na po kami na magbigay serbisyo ulit sa taumbayan”, pahayag ni Angkas chief transport advocate George Royeca.

Nakikipag-ugnayan din umano ang Angkas sa gobyerno gayundin sa University of the Philippines College of Public Health upang pag-aralan at alamin ang iba pang health protocols.

Oras na maibalik ang kanilang operasyon, isasailalim sa swab test ang nasa 30,000 na rider ng Angkas. Ipatutupad din nila ang cashless transaction at paggamit ng barrier. Kinakailangan ding may sariling helmet ang pasahero bago makasakay.

Samantala, iniulat naman ni JoyRide Vice President for Corporate Affairs Noli Eala na kasalukuyan pa nilang pinag-aaralan ang pamimigay ng libreng helmet para sa mga pasahero bilang parte ng kanilang safety program. Ayon pa sa kanya, nagsimula na rin ang pagpapatupad ng sistema para sa cashless transaction.

Malaki rin umano ang maitutulong ng motorcycle taxi services sa mga manggagawang apektado ng lockdown. “Kami ay handa na maging meaningful partner ng pamahalaan para muling buhayin ang ekonomiya ng ating bansa,” saad ni Eala.

Sa kasalukuyan, tanging delivery at pabili o shopping services lamang ang serbisyong inaalok ng Angkas at JoyRide sa publiko. Ayon kay Royeca, malaking bagay ang pagpapatuloy ng pilot study at makadadagdag umano ito ng humigit kumulang 200,000 trips bawat araw sa kanilang operasyon.
