NPC: ‘ITAPON NANG TAMA ANG SHIPPING LABELS NG ONLINE PURCHASES PARA MAKAIWAS SA MGA MANANAMANTALA’

Kasabay ng pagdagsa ng mga nag-oonline shopping, hinimok ng National Privacy Commission (NPC)  ang publiko na i-dispose nang tama ang shipping labels ng kanilang mga pinamimili online upang makaiwas sa insidente ng pagkakompromiso ng kanilang personal data.

“Shipping labels contain details such as name, address and contact number. If not disposed properly, pwedeng mapunta o magamit ng ibang tao ang data mo,” babala ng ahensya.

Ayon pa sa NPC, na naglalayong pangalagaan ang data privacy rights ng publiko, isa sa maaaring gawin upang maprotektahan ng online shoppers ang kanilang mga personal na impormasyon ay ang paggamit ng permanent marker upang matakpan ang mga detalyeng nakasaad sa shipping labels ng kanilang biniling item online.

Saad pa ng ahensya, maaari ring gawing scratch paper o food wrapper ang naturang shipping labels. Ngunit, mas ligtas anila kung pipilasin o i-shred ang mga ito.

“Kaya sa next unboxing, think before you dispose! Have a safe online Christmas shopping!” pahayag ng Komisyon sa mga mamimili.
