PAGBABAKUNA SA 60M KATAO PARA SA COVID-19, MAAARING UMABOT NG 3 – 5 TAON

Maaari umanong umabot sa tatlo hanggang limang taon bago tuluyang mabakunahan ang target na 60 milyong katao ayon kay Vaccine Czar Carlito Galvez, Jr.

“We will do this in a three to five-year period kasi po ang kaya lang natin ma-vaccinate is more or less 20 to 30 million a year,” paliwanag ni Sec. Galvez.

Layon ng gobyerno na mabakunahan ang 50 hanggang 60 porsyentong kabuuan ng populasyon ng bansa upang makamit ang herd immunity kung saan may sapat na bilang ng tao sa isang lugar na protektado sa naturang virus.

Nilinaw din ni Galvez na natukoy na ang mahigit 35 milyong katao na magiging prayoridad sa oras na dumating na ang bakuna sa bansa.

“Mayroon na po tayong listahan na more than 35 million na Filipinos ang nasa priority listings. Iyon po ay ibinigay ng ating Department of Health base rin po sa guidance ng ating mahal na Presidente,” pahayag ni Sec. Galvez.

Aniya “worst case scenario”, maaaring magsimula ang pagbibigay ng bakuna sa katapusan ng taong 2021 hanggang sa unang bahagi ng 2022.

Puspusan na rin ang paghahanda sa cold storage facilities na paglalagyan ng mga bakuna. Ayon kay Sec. Galvez, ipinanukala nila sa Senado na isama sa 2021 national budget ang halagang P150 milyon para sa logistics at distribusyon ng COVID-19 vaccine.

“We spoke with Congress and the Senate. It should be included there because the P2.5 billion initial fund is just for an initial 3 million vaccines for essential health workers,” ani Sec. Galvez.
