Posible umanong mabigyan na ng bakunang gawa ng Pfizer at Sinovac ang mga kabataang may edad apat hanggang 11 taong gulang bago matapos ang 2021 ayon sa Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

“I would think before the end of the year. I’m pretty sure Pfizer is going to be ready, and Sinovac told us that their data is being collated and will be submitted soon. So, I believe before the end of the year we’re going to have vaccines for children below 12,” ayon kay FDA Director General Eric Domingo.

Ayon kay Domingo, nakipag-ugnayan na umano ang Pfizer sa ahensya upang malaman ang requirements para sa emergency use authorization para sa naturang age bracket. Aniya, kinukumpleto na lamang ng mga ito ang iba pang dokumento at maaaring magsumite na ng kanilang application anumang araw.

“Meron lang kasi difference konti sa formulation ng vaccine for children so it’s going to be, it’s like a new Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) kasi may medyo bagong innovation dun sa product,” paliwanag ni Domingo.

Dagdag pa niya, naghihintay na lamang sila umano ng datos mula sa Sinovac para sa mga kabataang edad 17 pababa upang mapag-aralan ito ng mga vaccine experts ng bansa.

Kaugnay nito, ibinahagi rin niya na aabot na sa tatlong milyon na mga kabataang may edad 12 hanggang 17 ang nabakunahan na ng Pfizer o Moderna. Mababa rin umano ang kinalabasan ng adverse event monitoring kung saan naitalang wala pa sa isang porsyento ang nagkaroon ng side effects mula sa bakuna.
