Inihayag ni Aklan Governor  Florencio Miraflores na handa na sana ang bantog na isla ng Boracay para buksan ang pinto nito para sa mga dayuhang turista.

Subalit dahil umano sa bagong variant ng virus, naantala muli ang pagtanggap ng isla sa mga dayuhang turista.

“If not for this new Covid-19 variant, the province is ready to accept foreign tourists coming from abroad. It could just be noted that since Boracay has opened to domestic tourists since last year, no tourists have acquired the Covid-19 after they traveled to Boracay.”

Dahil umano rito, maaaring sa susunod na taon pa sila tumanggap ng mga turista mula sa ibang bansa.

Ayon din kay Gov. Miraflores, handa ang tourist facilities sa isla na tumanggap ng mga dayuhang turista at may inilaan ding quarantine facilities kung sakaling may magpositibo sa mga ito habang nasa Boracay.

Sa datos na nakalap mula sa Malay Municipal Tourism Office, umabot sa 15,000 lokal na turista ang nagpunta sa Boracay nitong Disyembre habang 12,000 lokal na turista naman ang naroon nitong Enero.
