PALASYO: ‘COVID-19 VACCINATION DRIVE, AARANGKADA NA SA PEBRERO 15’

“Ilang tulog na lang at darating na ang unang batch ng ating bakuna. Handang-handa po ang ating gobyerno para magsimula ang ating vaccination drive nitong ika-15 ng Pebrero.”

Ito ang ipinahayag ni Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque sa isang online briefing tungkol sa nalalapit na pagsisimula ng pagbabakuna laban sa COVID-19. 

Nilinaw naman ng tagapagsalita ng Pangulo na ang pagsisimula ng pagbabakuna ay dedepende pa rin sa pagdating ng COVID-19 vaccines na magmumula sa COVAX facility, na siyang pinamumunuan naman ng World Health Organization at naglalayong tiyakin na pantay-pantay na maibabahagi sa lahat ng bansa ang mga bakuna kontra sa nasabing virus. 

Ayon pa kay Roque, nauna nang ipinahayag ng COVAX na nakatakdang dumating sa Pilipinas ang unang suplay ng mga bakuna sa kalagitnaan ng buwang ito. 

“The COVAX communication says it will be mid-February. I think this week, COVAX will communicate to tell us exactly when. Let’s see po baka mamayang gabi maireport na ni Secretary Duque kay President Duterte exactly when, but we’re expecting COVAX to contact us anytime now because they will ship the [Pfizer-BioNTech] vaccines via airline,” saad ng Kalihim.

Sa ilalim ng immunization plan ng gobyerno, mauunang makatanggap ng bakuna ang health workers sa bansa. 

Inaasahang darating sa ikalawa o ikatlong linggo ng buwan ang mga bakuna na ibibigay sa 56,000 medical frontliners at hospital staff ng Philippine General Hospital, Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital and Sanitarium o ang Tala Hospital, Lung Center of the Philippines, at East Avenue Medical Center.
