PALASYO SA FDA: BILISAN ANG EVALUATION NG SALIVA-BASED COVID-19 TEST

Hinimok ng Palasyo ang Food and Drug Administration (FDA) na pabilisin ang pag-aaral nito sa posibleng paggamit ng rapid saliva-based coronavirus testing sa bansa.

Ang bagong paraang ito umano ay mas mura at “less invasive” kung ikukumpara sa swab test at mas mabilis din umanong makukuha ang resulta nito.

“Hallelujah, sana maipasok na sa Pilipinas iyan. And of course, we are asking the FDA for speedy evaluation para makakuha na tayo ng mas mura na test laban sa COVID-19,” pahayag ni Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque.

Ayon pa kay Sec. Roque, maaaring ito na umano ang maging solusyon upang mabawasan ang utang ng Philippine Health Insurance Corporation sa Philippine Red Cross.

Sa kasalukuyan, RT-PCR test pa rin ang itinuturing ng gobyerno na gold standard. Samantala, ginagamit na sa mga manlalaro ng National Basketball Association at mga staff nito ang saliva-based testing na nagmula sa mga eksperto sa Yale School of Public Health.

Ayon sa Red Cross, mayroong 99 porsyentong detection rate ang saliva-based COVID-19 test sa Estados Unidos.

Sa pinakahuling datos mula sa Department of Health, nakapagtala na ng 478,761 na kaso ng COVID-19 ang bansa at umabot na sa 9,263 ang nasawi dahil dito.
