Siniguro ng Palasyo sa publiko ang agarang pagpirma ng Pangulong Rodrigo R. Duterte sa panukalang batas na magpapabilis sa pagbili at administrasyon ng COVID-19 vaccines at magtatalaga ng Php500 milyong indemnification fund na gagamitin bilang kompensasyon sa mga indibidwal na makakaranas ng matinding side effects pagkatapos tumanggap ng bakuna.

Ito ay matapos magkasundo ang House of Representatives na sundan ang Senate version ng COVID-19 Vaccination Program Act.

“Inaasahan po natin na ito ay maisusumite sa Office of the President para maisabatas na po sa lalong mabilis na panahon,” saad ni Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque sa isang virtual press conference ngayong araw. 

Dagdag pa ni Spokeserson Roque, nabanggit daw umano ni Majority Leader Martin Romualdez sa kaniya na hindi na kailangang gawan ng bicameral conference report ang panukala dahil ang mga miyembro ng mababang kapulungan ay nagkasundong sundan ang bersyon ng Senado para sa panukalang batas.

“So, tapos na po iyan. ‘Pag iyan po ay nakarating sa Malacañang, sigurado naman po pipirmahan iyan ng ating Presidente,” paliwanag niya. 

In-adopt ng House of Representatives noong Martes ang Senate Bill 2057 o ang panukalang COVID-19 Vaccination Program Act of 2021. Sa ilalim nito, ang Department of Health (DOH) at ang National Task Force Against COVID-19 ay pinahihintulutang pangasiwaan ang procurement ng COVID-19 vaccines at sa mga kakailanganing suplay at serbisyo para sa storage, distribusyon, at transportasyon ng mga ito. 

Binibigyan din ng panukalang batas ang local government units (LGUs) ng karapatang bumili ng COVID-19 vaccines para sa kanilang nasasakupan pati na ang iba pang suplay at serbisyong kakailanganin para rito.
