Siniguro ng Palasyo kahapon na sinusubaybayan ng pamahalaan ang presyo at suplay ng isda sa mga palengke sa tulong na rin ng Department of Agriculture (DA). 

Sa isang virtual conference kahapon, sinabi ni Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles na ginagawa ng DA ang lahat upang masiguro na ang presyo ng isda, kabilang na ang galunggong, ay hindi tataas.

“Imo-monitor po natin itong mga presyo hindi lamang ng ng galunggong pati ‘yung ibang mga presyo ng pagkain po natin . . . So this is something that the Department of Agriculture is on top of,” saad ni Nograles.

Nauna nang iminungkahi ni Senator Grace Poe ang pagpapatupad ng price freeze sa galunggong matapos tumaas ang presyo nito sa mga palengke.

Ang presyo ng galunggong ay naglalaro ngayon sa Php240 at Php260 bawat kilo sa ilang bilihan.

Matatandaang noong Pebrero 1 ay pinirmahan ni Pangulong Rodrigo Roa Duterte ang Executive Order 124 na naglalagay ng price cap sa piling produkto ng manok at baboy sa Metro Manila sa loob ng dalawang buwan.

Ayon kay Nograles, hindi napag-usapan ang paglalagay ng price ceiling sa mga produktong isda sa Cabinet meeting noong Lunes.

Dagdag pa niya, nakikipagtulungan na ang Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) sa iba’t ibang organisasyon ng mga mangingisda upang mapanatili ang presyo ng galunggong at iba pang uri ng isda. 

“The Department of Agriculture is also working very closely, together with the BFAR, with our different fisher folk groups and organizations,” paliwanag niya.
