Nilinaw ni Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque na hindi nahuli ang bansa sa pagbili ng COVID-19 vaccine sa kabila ng mga balitang may mga nauna nang bansang nakabili ng mga ito.

Ayon kay Sec. Roque, mayroon na umanong kasunduan ang bansa sa tatlong pharmaceutical companies na Sinovac, Pfizer, at AstraZenica upang masigurong may sapat na suplay ng bakuna ang bansa sa susunod na taon.

“Hindi naman ako nagsisinungaling… hindi tayo nahihirapan. Kaya lang, ang katotohanan, ang mas mayayamang bansa, kino-corner ang supply. Pero mayroon tayong pamamaraan,” pahayag ni Sec. Roque.

Nauna nang bumili ang bansa ng 2.6 milyong doses sa AstraZeneca mula sa pondong galling sa pribadong sektor.

Kamakailan, iniulat ni Vaccine Czar Carlito Galvez, Jr. na aabutin ang pagbabakuna ng tatlo hanggang limang taon bago makamit ang herd immunity.

Frontline health workers mula sa pampubliko at pribadong ospital ang unang bibigyan ng bakuna kasunod ang senior citizens, mga mahihirap, at mga uniformed personnel.

Samantala, upang masigurong magkakaroon ng sapat na suplay ng bakuna, naglaan ang mga mambabatas ng pondong aabot sa P72.5 bilyon at separate funding na P10 bilyong piso sa ilalim ng Bayanihan to Recover as One Act.
