PAMAHALAAN, NOVAVAX LUMAGDA NG KASUNDUAN PARA SA SUPLAY NG 30 MILYONG COVID-19 VACCINES SA BANSA

Pinirmahan na ang kasunduan sa pagitan ng Pilipinas at ng American biotechnology company na Novovax upang masigurong mabibigyan ang bansa ng 30 milyong doses ng Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccines mula sa nasabing kumpanya.

Ito ang inilahad ni Vaccine Czar Carlito Galvez, Jr. noong Marso 17 matapos ang kanyang biyahe patungong India para sa nasabing layunin.

“Naging maganda ang resulta ng pagbiyahe natin sa India no’ng isang linggo. Doon, napirmahan na namin ang supply agreement kung saan ang Serum Institute of India ay magsu-supply ng 30 million doses ng Novavax sa ating bansa,” paglalahad ni Secretary Galvez.

Inaasahang darating ang nasabing suplay ng bakuna sa Pilipinas sa ikatlo o ikaapat na quarter ng taon.

Ang naturang doses ng Novovax ay bubuuin sa India.

Gayunpaman, nakatakda pa lamang na makakuha ng emergency use authorization ang nasabing bakuna mula sa Food and Drug Administration ng bansa.

Bukod sa Novovax, napag-uusapan din sa pagitan ng Pilipinas at ng India ang posibilidad na mabigyan din ang nauna ng walong milyon o higit pang doses ng Covaxin, ang COVID-19 vaccine na gawa mismo ng bansang India.

Nagsimula na ang COVID-19 immunization program sa bansa at kasalukuyang ipinamamahagi ng pamahalaan ang 600,000 doses ng Sinovac vaccines mula sa China at 525,600 doses ng AstraZeneca vaccines mula naman sa COVID-19 Vaccines Global Access o COVAX facility, ang pasilidad na namamahala upang siguruhing pantay-pantay ang distribusyon ng mga bakuna sa lahat ng bansa sa mundo.
