Inaprubahan na ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang pagsasagawa ng face-to-face classes ng ilang medical courses sa mga lugar na nasa Modified General Community Quarantine at General Community Quarantine upang masigurong may sapat na health workers ang bansa.

“Ito po ay para sa mga med schools, and iyong mga medical allied programs sa mga higher educational institutions sa MGCQ, at para po sa mga higher education institutes in GCQ areas with base hospitals that cater to COVID-19 patients,” paglilinaw ni Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque.

Subalit, may ilan pa ring tutol sa ginawang desisyon ng Palasyo. Depensa ng Palasyo, kailangan umano ito upang hindi maubusan ng doktor ang bansa sa gitna ng kinakaharap nitong pandemya.

“‘Pag hindi natin ipinagpatuloy iyan, e, may darating pong panahon na wala tayong magiging graduates, and at a time of pandemic, we need all the doctors we can have,” pahayag ni Sec. Roque.

Ayon pa kay Sec. Roque, maaari rin umanong magsumite ng application ang ibang eskwelahan na nais magsagawa ng face-to-face classes subalit kailangan munang inspeksyunin ng education authorities ang mismong campus kung sumusunod ba ito sa requirements para sa face-to-face classes.

Kamakailan, inaprubahan na rin ng Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases ang face-to-face medical internship sa University of the Philippines-Manila.
