Pangulong Duterte, mas pipiliin na Sinopharm vaccine mula China ang iturok sa kanya

Mas pipiliin daw umano ni Pangulong Rodrigo Roa Duterte na magpabakuna ng COVID-19 vaccine mula sa Chinese pharmaceutical company na Sinopharm ayon kay Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque sa isang press briefing kanina. 

“He has said na (that) his preference is for Sinopharm,” saad ni Roque. 

Ito ay matapos bigyan ng Food and Drug Administration (FDA) ng emergency use authorization (EUA) ang Sinovac vaccine na mula rin sa China. Gayunpaman, inanunsyo nito na hindi nito inirerekomenda ang bakunang mula sa Sinovac para sa medical workers at senior citizens dahil sa mababang efficacy rate nito. 

Sa kaniyang mga nakaraang talumpati, matatandaang ilang ulit binanggit ng Pangulo ang kagustuhan nitong mabakunahan ng COVID-19 vaccine na mula sa China o Russia.

Nauna nang binanggit ni Roque noong Pebrero 11 na mayroon na umanong napiling brand ng bakuna ang Pangulo ngunit binigyang-diin niyang wala siya sa lugar upang ianunsyo ito sa publiko. 

“I know of the decision of the President already. I can say that the President’s decision is consistent, but he prefers Chinese. But I am not in authority to make public that decision,” paliwanag niya.

Noong nakaraang linggo ay kinumpirma din ni Roque ang pagpayag ng Pangulong isapubliko ang kaniyang pagpapabakuna. 

Inaprubahan ng China ang Sinopharm vaccine para sa publiko noong Disyembre ng nakaraang taon matapos ianunsyo ng developer nito na mayroon itong 79.34 percent efficacy rate base sa kanilang pag-aaral at obserbasyon sa late-stage clinical trials ng bakuna.
