Nagbabala si Vaccine Czar Carlito Galvez, Jr. sa publiko na maaaring magkaroon ng panibagong virus surge sa darating na Hunyo o Hulyo dahil sa patuloy na pagtaas ng kaso ng COVID-19 sa bansa.

“Ang nakita po natin, hindi pa po tapos ang COVID-19. Nakita po natin, the wrong notion na. COVID-19 is finished in some other countries. It can reappear anytime. We have to expect for the worse when we are planning something. We are now preparing for it, just in case,” pahayag ni Galvez.

Pinuna rin ni Galvez ang cycle ng pagkalat ng virus sa mga lugar tulad ng Metro Manila, Cebu, at Bacolod City noong nakaraang taon kung kailan nasa first wave pa lamang ang bansa.

Aniya, “Until such time that there is already a definite cure or definite elimination for the Covid, that’s the time we will see ‘yung economic recovery.”

Dagdag pa ni Galvez, mas marami na rin umanong variant ang COVID-19 at aabot sa anim hanggang siyam na buwan matapos magsimula ang vaccine rollout sa bansa bago malaman kung naging epektibo nga ba ang bakuna.

Aminado rin siyang malapit ng maubos ang intensive care unit beds para sa severe COVID-19 patients sa kabila ng patuloy na pagtaas ng kaso sa bansa.

Upang matugunan ito, nagtutulungan umano ang lokal  na pamahalaan at ang gobyerno na madagdagan ang kapasidad ng mga ospital upang makatanggap pa ang mga ito ng karagdagang pasyente.
