Noong Martes ay inanunsyo na ng Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI),  isang kalakip na ahensiya ng Department of Agriclture (DA), na idineklara na ng World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) na malaya na ang Pilinas mula sa huling natitirang strain ng Avian Influenza o Bird Flu.

Pinuri ni DA Secretary William Dar ang DA-BAI at ilang lokal na pamahalaan sa pagsisikap ng mga itong puksain ang pagkalat ng A(H5N6) na siyang huling natitirang strain ng Bird Flu sa bansa.

“I congratulate the DA-BAI and the local governments of Pampanga and Rizal, whose swift action resulted in limiting the further spread of the A(H5N6) strain to other areas,” Agriculture Secretary William Dar said in a statement.

Ayon sa DA, nagawang solusyunan ng pamahaaan ang outbreak ng strain sa isang commercial poulty farm sa Pampanga at mga backyard poultry farm sa Rizal nang wala pa sa isang taon.

“We had not detected any case of A(H5N6) among the poultry and other bird population in the last 90 days after the completion of cleaning and disinfection in the affected farms, surveillance, and monitoring, and completion of the 35-day restocking period with sentinel animals in Pampanga and Rizal,” paliwanag ni BAI director Ronnie Domingo.

Kinumpirma ng DA-BAI Animal Disease Diagnosis and Reference Laboratory noong Hulyo 10, 2020 ang pagbabalik ng A(H5N6) sa bansa matapos i-report ng may-ari ng isang commercial layer farm sa Pampanga ang biglaang pagbaba ng produksyon ng itlog at pagkamatay ng mga manok. aParehong kaso din ang natukoy sa Rizal noong Agosto ng nakaraang taon
