“Ikinagagalak ko po na ang ating COVAX facility para sa Pilipinas ay naaprubahan na po. Siguro meron po tayong 30 to 40 million na doses for free para po sa lahat, sa ating mga kababayan.”

Ito ang inanunsyo ni Vaccine Czar Carlito Galvez, Jr. nitong Huwebes, Enero 21, 2021 sa isang televised briefing.

Ang COVAX facility ay ang nangangasiwa sa pagtitiyak na ang lahat ng mga indibidwal sa mundo ay magkakaroon ng access sa bakuna laban sa COVID-19 sa oras na magkaroon na ng suplay nito, hindi alintana ang kanilang estado sa lipunan.

Bagama’t hindi diretsahang sinabi ng Kalihim kung aling bakuna ang matatanggap ng bansa mula sa COVAX facility, maaari aniya itong magmula sa Pfizer-BioNTech, AstraZeneca, COVAVAX na gawa ng Serum Institute of India, o kaya naman ay maaaring manggaling ito sa kumpanyang Johnson & Johnson.

“Talagang ito po ay global interest na we can contain ‘yong virus through the WHO [World Health Organization] concept of equitable access to poor countries like us,” ani Galvez.

Nauna nang ipinahayag ni Galvez na sa pamamagitan ng COVAX facility, maaaring makakuha na ang Pilipinas ng COVID-19 vaccine mula sa kumpanyang Pfizer-BioNTech ng Amerika sa susunod na buwan.
