Inilahad ni Indian Ambassador to Manila Shambhu Kumaran na makatatanggap ang bansa ng 30 milyong doses ng Novovax vaccine mula sa bansang India ngayon taon.
Kasalukuyang nasa India si Vaccine Czar Carlito Galvez, Jr. kasama ang ilang opisyal mula sa Department of Health at Finance upang makipagnegosasyon sa pagbili ng Novovax.
“Novovax is pretty much a done deal. We are hoping Secretary Galvez will be able to announce that news as soon as possible,” ani Ambassador Kumaran.
Dagdag din niya, “The discussions are underway for the 30 million doses, and I believe the Philippine side is interested in the larger number, and that detail is currently being negotiated.”
Ayon pa kay Kumaran, malaking tulong umano ang inaasahang pagdating ng bakuna sa ikalawang yugto ng taong ito sa isinasagawang vaccination program ng gobyerno.
Bukod pa umano sa Novovax, nakikipagnegosasyon din ang bansa upang makakuha ng suplay ng Covaxin na gawa rin mismo sa bansang India.
Kaugnay nito, inaasahan ni Ambassador Kumaran na magagawaran na ng emergency use authorization ang Covaxin lalo pa’t naisumite na umano ang mga datos mula sa phase three clinical trials nito.
Kumpiyansa rin si Kumaran na epektibo ang bakunang gawa ng Covaxin na suportado rin umano ng gobyerno ng kanilang bansa dahil sa 81 porsyento nitong efficacy rate.
