Pinirmahan na ng bansa ang indemnity deals nito sa US pharmaceutical firm na Pfizer at sa kumpanyang AstraZeneca mula sa United Kingdom na kinakailangan upang mabigyan ang bansa ng suplay ng Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccines mula sa mga ito. 

Ayon kay Vaccine Czar Carlito Galvez, Jr., isinumite na ng mga awtoridad ang naturang kasunduan sa COVAX Facility, na naglalayong mabigyan ng pantay na suplay ng bakuna ang lahat ng bansa sa mundo. 

Sa ilalim ng nasabing kasunduan, aakuin ng pamahalaan ang responsibilidad at gastos sakaling makaranas ng major side effects mula sa mga bakuna ang mga indibidwal na tuturukan ng mga ito. 

“Binibigyan po natin sila ng tinatawag na guarantee na iyong gagawin po natin na immunization ay prepared na prepared po ang Pilipinas, kaya po nating i-handle pati iyong tinatawag nating mga adverse effect,” saad naman ni National Task Force Against COVID-19 deputy chief implementer Vince Dizon. 

Standard requirement ng vaccine manufacturers ang nasabing indemnity deals. 

“Ito po kasing mga bakunang ito ay hindi pa natatapos ang proseso ng product registration sa buong mundo,” ani Dizon. 

Dagdag pa niya, halos lahat ng nasabing mga bakuna ay nasa pangatlong stage pa lamang ng kanilang clinical trials. 

Sa kasalukuyan ay inaantay pa ng pamahalaan ang tugon ng COVAX sa isinumiteng indemnity agreement ng bansa. 

Bukod sa unang batch ng Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines, inaasahan din ang pagdating sa bansa ngayong buwan ng 600,000 doses ng mga bakuna mula sa Chinese pharmaceutical firm na Sinovac.
