PRRD APRUBADO NA ANG COVID-19 VACCINATION PROGRAM ACT OF 2021

Nilagdaan na ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) Vaccination Program Act of 2021 — ang batas na naglalayong mapabilis ang pagkuha ng suplay at pagproseso ng pagtuturok ng COVID-19 vaccines sa mga mamamayan, gayundin ang pagbuo ng indemnity fund o pondong gugugulin para magbigay-ayuda sa mga kakikitaan ng side effects matapos silang mabakunahan laban sa virus. 

Ito ang inanunsyo ni Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque dalawang araw bago dumating ang unang batch ng COVID-19 vaccines mula sa kumpanyang Sinovac nito lamang Linggo, Pebrero 28.

“We are confident that the signing of this landmark piece of legislation would expedite the procurement and administration of vaccines for the protection against COVID-19,” pahayag ng tagapagsalita ng Pangulo. 

Ayon sa Palasyo, patuloy na magsasagawa ang pamahalaan ng mga hakbang upang maaksyunan ang mga panganib at epektong dulot ng pandemya. 

“Indeed, we remain committed in our fight against the coronavirus pandemic and we are using necessary means, such as the enactment of this Republic Act, certified urgent by the President, as a way to start our vaccine rollout,” ani Secretary Roque. 

Noong Pebrero 18 ay pinirmahan ng Pangulo ang pagpapabilis sa pagproseso ng nasabing batas. 

Base sa naturang batas, maaari ring makabili ng bakuna kontra COVID-19 ang mga lokal na pamahalaan at ang pribadong sektor. 

Samantala, nagkakahalaga naman ng P500 milyon ang pondong nakalaan para sa mga indibidwal na makararanas ng side effects mula sa COVID-19 vaccine matapos silang mabakunahan. Ang naturang halaga ay manggagaling sa Contingent Fund para sa 2021 national budget na pamamahalaan ng  Philippine Health Insurance Corporation o PhilHealth. 

Ayon kay Roque, mahalaga ang nasabing batas upang mapaigting ang tiwala ng mga mamamayan sa COVID-19 vaccination program ng pamahalaan.
