Hindi pinayagan ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang proposal na ibalik ang trials ng face-to-face classes sa bansa. 

Sa isang virtual briefing, sinabi ni Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque na ayon sa Pangulo, ayaw niyang malagay sa panganib ang mga mag-aaral at guro, lalo na’t hindi pa nagsisimula ang malawakang pagbabakuna laban sa COVID-19. 

Sakop ng naturang kautusan ang lahat ng mga klase sa elementarya at sekundarya sa ilalim ng Department of Education.

Gayunpaman, ani Secretary Roque, bukas naman ang Pangulo na isagawa ang naturang trials ng face-to-face classes sa Agosto, lalo na sa mga lugar na may mababang kaso ng COVID-19. 

“I guess what he is anticipating [is] that since we will begin vaccination this month, we would be way ahead of our vaccination program in August to give us the confidence to resume at least limited face-to-face education,” pahayag ng tagapagsalita ng Pangulo. 

Sa ngayon ay nananatiling naka-blended learning ang mga estudyante, kung saan isinasagawa ang virtual sessions, radio at TV broadcasts, at paggamit ng printed modules para sa pagkatuto ng mga mag-aaral. 

Samantala, nauna nang pinayagan ng Presidente ang pagsasagawa ng limitadong face-to-face classes para sa medical at allied health programs ng higher education institutions sa mga lugar na nasa ilalim ng general community quarantine (GCQ) at modified GCQ.
