PRRD inaprubahan na ang price cap ng baboy at manok sa NCR

Inaprubahan na ni Pangulong Rodrigo Roa Duterte ngayong araw ang rekomendasyon ng Department of Agriculture (DA) na maglagay ng price ceiling sa piling mga produktong baboy at manok sa National Capital Region kasunod ng patuloy na pagtaas ng presyo ng pagkain.

Pinirmahan ni Duterte ang Executive Order (EO) 124 upang tugunan ang patuloy na pagtaas ng presyo ng pangunahing mga bilihin tulad ng baboy at manok na nagdudulot ng pasanin sa mga mamimili lalo na sa mga mahihirap na pamilya.

Naglalayon itong solusyunan ang mas mababang pork output ng Pilipinas na dulot ng African Swine Flu (ASF).

“It is imperative and urgent to ensure that basic necessities are adequate, affordable, and accessible to all,” saad ng EO.

Sa ilalim ng EO, ang itinalagang price cap para sa liempo ay Php300 bawat kilo at Php270 naman para sa kasim. Ang presyo naman ng isang kilo ng manok ay nasa Php160.

Isinasaad sa Republic Act 7581 na may kapangyarihan ang Pangulo na magtalaga ng price ceiling ng mga pangunahing bilihin sa kalagitnaan ng kalamidad o emergency sa rekomendasyon ng Price Coordinating Council o anumang  implementing agency. 

Ang DA, Department of the Interior and Local Government, at Department of Trade and Industry ay inutusang mamuno sa implementasyon ng resolusyon upang siguruhin ang maayos na pag-aangkat ng mga produktong karne.
