PRRD pananagutin ang mga sangkot sa korapsyon sa PhilHealth

“PhilHealth [issue] should be investigated and everyone [involved] should be prosecuted and jailed. If that’s the only work I can do in the remaining two years, I would do that.”

Ito ang binitawang pahayag ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa gitna ng mga alegasyon ng bilyun-bilyong pisong halaga ng mga iregularidad sa Philippine Health Insurance Corporation. 

Matatandaang kasalukuyang humaharap sa P15 bilyong halaga ng umano’y pangungurakot at iba pang alegasyon na may kaugnayan sa korapsyon ang nasabing ahensya. Naiulat din na mauubos na umano ang pondo nito pagsapit ng 2022. 

Ayon pa kay Pangulong Duterte, makabubuting magbitiw na raw sa pwesto si PhilHealth President at Chief Executive Officer Ricardo Morales sa gitna ng kritikal na kalagayan na kinakaharap ngayon ng nasabing tanggapan. 

Saad naman ni Department of Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra, na pinuno ng multi-agency task force na nagsisiyasat tungkol sa mga alegasyon ng korapsyon sa PhilHealth, nabanggit din aniya ng Pangulo ang “on-and-off health situation” ni Morales.

Ibinunyag din ni Justice Secretary Guevarra na nakausap na ni Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea si Morales at nauunawaan naman aniya ng huli kung kinakailangan na siyang palitan sa pwesto. 

Kaugnay rito, kinumpirma ni Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque noong Miyerkules na pormal nang naghain si Morales ng kanyang pagnanais na magbitiw bilang pinuno ng PhilHealth. 

“I am thankful to the President for allowing me to rest. I can now take care of my health and my family,” pahayag ni Morales na kasalukuyang nagpapagaling sa kanyang lymphoma o kanser sa lymph nodes.

Samantala, tinanggap na rin ni Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque III ang resignation letter ni Morales. 

“He has announced it na mayroon po siyang sakit and this is part of siguro po, [his] treatment. The Secretary understands this predicament,” pagbabahagi ni DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire.

Sinabi naman ni Sec. Roque na inaantay pa ang mga kasunod na aksyon at utos ng Pangulo ukol sa nasabing pagbibitiw ni Morales. 

Dagdag pa ng Tagapagsalita ng Pangulo, nais aniya ng Presidente na isang responsable at hindi korap na indibidwal ang humalili kay Morales bilang PhilHealth President.
